Zip Zap

Players required: 8 or more
Equipment required: None
Preparation: None
How to Play: In Zip Zap, all the participants make a circle and one player is designated as the leader. The leader stands in the middle of the circle and all other players tell their first and last name going clockwise. Each player has to try to remember the name of the players on his/her right side and left side. Then, suddenly the leader points out a finger towards a player – say, Ben and says, ‘Zip’ – and starts counting one, two, three, four, five. The player Ben (who is pointed out) has to reply back the full name of the person on his left before the count of five. And if the leader called out, “Zap” the procedure will be the same where the only difference would be that this time the reply has to be the full name of the person on the right side. If Ben is not able to give the right answer within the count of five, then he has to exchange his place with that of the leader’s. In case, Ben gives the right answer within the count of five, he remains at his place and then, the leader points out another person.
Make sure all understand that ‘Zip’ means the person on the left and ‘Zap’ means the person on the right.

Multiplication Dance

Again, they separate and each one chooses a new partner. This process continues till all the players/guests have joined in dancing.

Before the game starts, host should check, that the players are in even number. If one player is extra, then he/she can start or stop the music and join the dancing in the end.

Blown up Fortunes

Players required: 5 or more
Equipment required:
• A balloon for each player and some more if some are burst by the time
• A Fortune/prediction written on a slip for each player.
Preparation: Insert a written Fortune/prediction in all balloons and blow them up, tie their mouths.
How to Play: The Fortunes you are using may be silly or hilarious. You can add anything that amplifies the fun element of the party. Some suggestions are given below:
“Today is your lucky day.”
“An apple a day will keep you healthy.”
“If you don’t stop over eating you will become fat.”
“At the end of the day your wish will be full filled.”
“You will marry a robot and have 20 children.”
“In the evening you will meet someone special.”
“You will be a prisoner in the zoo.”
“You will get a pleasant surprise before the day is out.”
When all your guests have arrived, throw the balloons up in the air and let your guests catch them. Ask them then, to burst their balloon, read out their fortune for the day and begin the party with a BANG!

Follow the Leader

Players required: Any number
Equipment required: none
Preparation: Set up “hurdles” in the area designated for playing the game.
How to Play: In follow the leader, as the name indicates, select one person as a leader and the rest of the players have to do exactly what the leader does. It may be something funny, silly or unusual that the leader chooses to do. All the players follow the leader in a line close behind him. According to the space, this game can be played in big areas where you can set “hurdles” at small distances (using low tables, cartons, bucket, etc.). Leader can carry something on head and cross them. In smaller areas, leader can hop, jump or skip to make the game interesting.
p.s. It is a good idea to share some tips with the leader beforehand so that he/she can figure out some interesting or unusual things to do.

This game is also a good way to end a party. The leader can pick up papers, carry used dishes out to the kitchen, and so on. Finally, he can pick up his belongings, say bye to everyone and make an exit. :)

All these kind of activities are to have fun only. The only thing which we should keep in our mind is that activities should not be very easy or tough and that they should be different, alternating simple and complex ones.

Broom Dance

Players required: In any odd number
Equipment required: A broom and music
Preparation: None
How to Play: “The Broom Dance” is itself a funny name for a game. In this game odd number of players is required. One person (other than the players) has to take charge of starting and stopping the music. Players pair-up in 2s to dance on music. The extra player dances with the broom. When the music stops, all the players have to change their partners. The broom holder too has to drop the broom and grab a person to make his/her partner before the music starts again. Now, the player who is left single, will dance with the broom until the music stops again. The game will continue in this manner.
