How to Plan a Princess Themed Birthday Party

How to Plan a Princess Themed Birthday Party

Every girl child fancies living the life of a princess!

There is no better way to help your daughter live her dream than planning a princess birthday party for her! Princess party is best suited for girls aged between 3 to 8 years who love being treated like a royal princess. You can choose your daughter’s favorite Disney princess character theme such as ‘Snow white’, ‘Cinderella’, ‘Ariel’ or a just a ‘Royal Princess’!

Just like all other events, birthday parties too require plenty of planning. Use your creativity to make the event incredibly fun for all – with memories that last for long! To ensure everything is inch perfect on the birthday, plan the event well in advance. This will give you ample time to collect all the things you would need including decoration materials, gift items and decide the menu for the party.

Invitations for a Princess Party

Invite all your daughter’s friends from school and neighbourhood. Since it is a themed party, use your creativity to send an attractive princess party invitation. You can use royal scrolls, crown, tiara, throne, castle or mermaid shaped cards. Make sure you use an attractive calligraphy font, with words befitting a royal invitation. Don’t forget to mention the date/time and venue of the royal event and seal the envelope with a princess sticker. You can choose and send free online invitations for a princess party as well.

Dress Code for Princess Party

Ask the guests to come dressed as princesses, boys as princes / knights.
You can choose to give all kids a makeover as soon as they enter. Adorn girls by a touch of makeup, hair extensions, tiaras, tattoos, glitters, etc. Boys too can have some basic makeup, hair gel, fake moustaches and crowns. Click a picture of each guest after the makeover, frame it nicely and hand it over to the kid as his/her return gift after the party.
You and your family too should be in royal robes or could at least be wearing a tiara or crown on your heads. :)

Decorations befitting a Princess’s abode

Decorate the venue of the princess birthday party in a way that it sets the royal mood for kids to live a wonderful dream come true. Choose the color theme of pink and lavender for your princess themed party. Apart from balloons and streamers, use princess themed table cloth and a red carpet to welcome your princess’s royal guests. Use pink / lavender fabrics to drape the furniture. Create a pink or lavender royal throne for the birthday girl to sit whenever she feels like. Hang matching/contrasting drapes behind the throne for a special effect! You can also create a castle like atmosphere within the venue; have a royal courtyard for the children to play.

Choose a royal cake for the Princess

Cake cutting is the most important ceremony of any birthday party. Choose a cake that befits the royal occasion. A multi-layered castle shaped strawberry pink and white cake would please your daughter to no end. Chocolate flavor is a favorite of all kids so you can choose a Mermaid shaped or a Disney princess character shaped chocolate cake as well.

Royal Games for Princess Party

A royal birthday party is incomplete without royal games. Plan games and activities like passing the poison apple, dancing statue, pin the crown on a princess picture or musical walk. Games add excitement to the party and give children plenty of time to interact. Even the adults enjoy watching kids having fun while playing. Prizes can be prince / princess ring, a necklace, a sword, a clutch, a tiara / crown, a carved hand mirror, a personal diary, photo frame/album etc.

Princess Party Favors

Every child loves party goodies. You can select some princess goodies (stickers/tattoos, tiara / crown, makeup kit, glittery clutch purse, a sword or dagger, a sand hour-glass to tell time, costume jewelry, etc.) to all the guests attending the event. You can add a thank you message to the goody bag. It is considered a very polite and appreciated gesture. If the invitation was sent online, you can schedule a Thank you message also to be sent to all your guests after the party, via EventEve.com.

After the party

Send Thankyou card/SMS/email to the guests for being a part of your special occasion.
Post the pictures/snaps with interesting tag lines online and share all the guests a link to the album.

if planned via eventeve.com, thankyou notes can be scheduled to be sent automatically after the event via email/SMS. The photos too can be uploaded on the event’s web page by all guests and host to share.

  1. Hi! Here are 7 steps to a successful princess party:

    1) Create excitement – have the royal guests dress up in their favorite costumes/gowns/party dresses & tell them there will be a surprise! Plan a surprise entrance of a REAL princess: If you don’t know of one, have a friend or yourself (host) dress up in a formal gown of yours. When all guests have arrived, have your real princess enter, playing &/or singing the birthday princess’ favorite princess song!
    Dance & be merry in a circle…

    2) Serve great & cute princess themed food… (recipes & pics can be found all over the net)

    3) Perform a ceremony, turning your little royal guests into ‘official’ princesses & knights. This includes a magic wish with fairy dust (glitter &/or confetti) & certificates with your guests names on them. Hand out wands or tiaras (or both) to adorn your new princesses, (and swords or crowns for the new knights).

    4) Paint faces & nails! Kids LOVE this…. Simple designs are fine..(ladybugs, butterflies, smiley faces, crowns, tiaras, spiders, etc.) You can get a set of face paints at Micheals for $14 or a toy store. Most all princesses LOVE having their nails polished!

    5) Play games or do a craft! A frame craft is great, so that you can provide a photo to each guest after the event, taken with the REAL princess.

    6) Have a fabulous, lasting princess party favor, like a favor painting. Ditch the plastic toys & bags of candy. :)

    7) Hug your royal guests goodbye & send a royal “Thank You” note to them for joining your little princess on her special day!

    I hope this helps!
