Parents’ Day is celebrated every year on the fourth Sunday of July. Hence, it is upcoming on July 28, 2013 this year. It is a day to appreciate the care, love and support that our parents never cease to provide.

How to celebrate

Invite your parents in advance to spend time with you on their day. Remember that the day is to honour your parents, so invite them to something they’ll enjoy. Consider something seasonal and outdoors, such as a family picnic or visit to a temple or even a pilgrimage, if inclined. To show your sentiments, if you are that kind, make a greeting card for your parents to thank them for being there with you through all ups and downs… consider using family photographs of you with your parents to bring back memories good ol’ memories. You can make a collage of them by hand, on computer, or get a professional’s help. Another good idea is to take your parents out, make them a meal, or plan an activity that you all will enjoy. Give them a gift if you can think of something that is meaningful. Or plan a surprise party for your parents and ask an adult friend to help you plan your Parents’ Day surprise party. Decorate the place where you are having your party. Make sure that you get there early enough to have the decorations finished before guests arrive.
