Throwing a great party provides a lot of self satisfaction apart from appreciation from guests. However, the flip side could be that it is 1:00 AM in the night and your husband’s friends are still holding on to the couch with their favorite drinks.

So, how are you supposed to get rid of the guests without hurting their feelings? Here are some tricks that can come in handy when you fall into such a situation.

  • Provide a timeframe in advance – This is more of a preventive measure to announce the start and end time of the party. By doing this, you set the right expectations that will be easy to adhere to. It always helps to start early for the party to wrap up things in a timely manner.
  • Cut the music – Change the music theme and lower the volume. If that does not help, simply shut it off.
  • Stop serving alcohol and offer tea/coffee to guests – Refrain from starting a full-fledged cleanup, but stop offering alcohol to guests about an hour before you wish people to leave. Offer coffee if it looks some might need it.
  • Clear the table – You may want to clear the table and move the stuff back to the kitchen to send the signal to your guests.
  • Switch off lights of main areas – It is a common practice in theatres to switch on the main lights when the movie ends. Similarly, you may turn off lights in all the unoccupied areas.
