How to plan a party?

Parties are a great way for people to celebrate; whether it is a birthday, an anniversary or even a wedding. People go out of their way to make sure that their parties are talked about long after they happen. The object is to hold a celebration that will lurk in the memory of the guests and perhaps even inspire trends. For the social animals, organizing a party is a holy occasion and they spare no efforts to ensure that their bash turns out well. Organizing parties is not as easy as most people think. If you have not organized a party then you will probably think that it is easy to throw one but it is not.

A good party is one that is well planned. You have to plan food, guest list, location and budget among other things. If you have not made all preparations in advance then it is likely that you will not get to enjoy your own party. Socialites take a lot of pride in throwing parties based on the latest ideas and themes. The not-yet-socialites also organize parties at home and banquet halls, depending on the number of guests and there are still a multitude of things to consider and plan.

For some people extravagance is the name of the game. These people spare no means to ensure that there is affluence in every element of the party, while some people do well even on a budget. A party like any other social occasion needs to be planned carefully and the better the planning, the better will it turn out to be. If you are still unsure about how to plan a party, then here is a checklist that you can use to ensure that the party is well planned.

1. Plan the party in advance: A lot of people party every weekend. While going to a club or a pub is a relatively easy as compared to planning your own party, the thrill and joy of playing host is something different. Plan your party well in advance so that you have time to enjoy yourself too. Make lists of things that you will need and decide on the theme of the party early on. Look for deals on food, drinks and even locations / venues as it will help save some time and money.

2. Choose the food and drinks carefully: Food is one of the most important things which make a party a success or a failure. Make sure that there are plenty of snacks to go around and enough food for your guests. No guest would like to leave from a party on an empty stomach so make sure that the food is well taken care of. Another important thing to consider is that not all people are meat eaters so make sure that there is enough vegan food to go around. Too much drinking at a party will lead to problems, make sure that there is enough liquor but at the same time keep the amount moderated such that there are no drunken brawls that break out. Great parties are often put to shame because the guests all get drunk. While liquor is a great social catalyst, it can just as easily backfire so make sure that the liquor is regulated. Keeping a responsible person at a bar also helps.

3. Invite people: Party invitations are very important as they contain information about the Date / time, location and the theme of the party. Be sure that all this is mentioned in the party invite. A lot of money and time is usually spent in making attractive party invitations. Make sure that you work on your invitation and give it a personal touch as well. When you invite a lot of people make sure that there is adequate space for everyone as nobody will feel comfortable at a party where there is hardly any place to stand in and this does happen to a lot of parties. Do not send out your invitations too early or too late. If you send them out too early then people may forget about your party and sending them in too late will only cause panic for yourself and your guests too. However, if you are sending Online Invitations via EventEve, scheduled reminders to guests take good care of the reminding task.

4. Atmospheric preparations: Work on building a party-like atmosphere and setting the right mood for the party. The decorations need to be chosen correctly, if you are planning to decorate at all. The music is also very important as it sets the desired mood in an instant. Make sure that you have handpicked the music tracks that you are going to play in advance. Not keeping track of music can lead to a disaster.

5. Prepare for the worst: Accidents are common at parties so be prepared for them. It is wise to have a plan for any spills or breakages at a party. Make an effort to ensure that the mood is not spoiled by a few broken glasses or a few spills. Remove all distractions from the party area too, it’s a mess when people start gathering around a television set when a party is just getting started. Remove any valuables that you would not like to see broken if you are throwing a party in your home and expect things to get wild. Preparing for such contingencies is also all important when trying to throw a good party.
