Simple ways to make birthdays special for your kids…

Simple ways to make birthdays special for your kids…

See if you like them… :)

Idea #1

– Blow up balloons and hang ‘em with Happy Birthday banners while your kid is sleeping at night. When he wakes up in the morning, he’ll be pleasantly surprised!

Idea #2

– Once your kid is ready for the day, ask him to seek blessings from all elders; gather around him with a little cup cake and a lit candle. Ask your kid to blow off the candle and make a wish. Play and sing along a nice Happy Birthday song for the kid, followed by more party songs, if your family loves to dance and be merry!

Idea #3

– The birthday child could reign as king or queen for the day, complete with a crown/tiara if the kid prefers. The kid gets to choose all meals and activities and is exempt from all chores. He/she should be addressed as royalty when spoken to. A bow here or there would definitely add to the respect the birthday child should command and would lead to some great laughs and memories. A younger sibling could perhaps be knighted and deemed the liaison between family and king or queen.

Idea #4

– Each family member tells the birthday kid something they like about them. A parent writes it down on birthday stationary and places it in an envelope. Take a picture of the birthday child with each person, and include it as well. Seal the envelope and write the date on the outside. The special note should be placed in a keepsake box until the child turns 18.

Idea #5

– Create Memories by creating a birthday notebook that the child can write in each year. Include their height and weight, what they want to be when they grow up, their hobbies, etc. Add a photo or two from birthday festivities and invite friends and family to autograph a page in the notebook.

Idea #6

– Gifts from you and other family members… make your child hunt for this treasure! Hide the gifts at different places around the house. Hand your kid the clue (in the form of 2-4 rhyming lines would be good) to find his 1st gift. Each gift will also have with it the clue to find the next gift and so on…

Idea #7

– All children love parties. Ask the birthday child what birthday theme they would like to have and make it an all out celebration. If it’s a pirate birthday party they want, make every guest a pirate and supply a hook for their hand, patch for their eye, bandana for their head, and sword for their defense. Party favors can be treasure chests/ loot bags filled with candy, toy money and small trinkets. Hire professionals to organize a magic show, puppet show, games and put temporary tattoo on all your guests. And don’t forget to play pirate music to get everybody in the mood ;)

Idea #8

– No one should go Home a Loser! Competitive games are enjoyable only for the people who win. A party should be fun… Avoid tears by selecting games where everyone gets a chance to enjoy! Assign interesting tasks like playing music, sharing a joke/riddle, singing a song to the kids who are called “out” during the game!
